CURRENT JOB OPENINGS:

The custodial staff is responsible for keeping the YMCA building, equipment, and grounds in a safe, clean, and functional manner. The health and safety of our members is paramount. Cleaning and maintaining the facility and equipment is critical to our success as a business. The overall impression our guests receive should be positive at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Excellent communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Prior experience in maintenance and/or janitorial work is preferred.
  2. Must have a friendly, outgoing and helpful personality, along with an understanding of working with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to multitask is essential.
  3. Must be able to operate various types of cleaning equipment, including, but not limited to: floor finishers, vacuums, carpet extractors, ladders, and general cleaning equipment and standard hand tools.
  4. Must have good command of the English language to take direction, write work orders, and read and understand chemical labeling and material safety sheets.
  5. Must be able to work in awkward, cramped or poorly lit areas, stand for periods of up to four hours, have sufficient manual dexterity to operate tools and cleaning equipment, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  6. Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
  7. Be consistently on time, help substitute. Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  8. Exemplify the YMCA mission and values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility in all aspects of job performance and interactions/relationships with others.

The YMCA is seeking a motivated, mission-driven leader to provide leadership for our health, wellness, fitness, and healthy living programs.

This is a flexible position, and the final responsibilities will be shaped around the successful candidate’s experience, strengths, certifications, and interests.

The position may be part-time or full-time.

Depending on the candidate, responsibilities may include:

  • Overseeing and developing fitness, wellness and healthy living programs
  • Leading or teaching group exercise and/or personal training
  • Supporting member engagement and wellness
  • Developing programs for youth, adults and older adults
  • Utilizing experience in nutrition, community health or healthy living
  • Supporting grant opportunities, food access/anti-hunger initiatives or community partnerships
  • Supervising staff and volunteers and supporting program quality

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about health, wellness and helping people
  • Has strong leadership and communication skills
  • Is creative, motivated and willing to take initiative
  • Has experience in fitness, wellness, health education, nutrition, public health, recreation, or a related field
  • Can bring something valuable to the YMCA that we may not have today

A bachelor’s degree and relevant certifications are preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
